NEW NON-WELD CABLE TRANSITS FOR SHIP AND OFFSHORE WILL BOOST INSTALLATION SPEED AND SAFETY
Traditional marine cable transit frames have always been installed by welding to the bulkhead or deck. A time consuming process due for the need to weld in stages and allow for cooling to avoid frame distortion. Welding can also carry risks where hot work would create safety hazards in areas subject to explosive gasses or materials.
Installing and sealing of the GHM frame is entirely mechanical. The frame has a generous 60mm flange allowing round cornered holes to be cut to minimise possibilities of bulkhead cracks. The flange is either bolted or self tapped into the bulkhead and sealed by a concealed gasket. Much lighter than welded frames the GHM also helps to reduce the weight of the vessel.
The ease and speed with which the GHM frames can be installed allows them to be fitted or modified while the vessel is at sea or a rig is under operation. They are fully compatible with pre-terminated connectors and where this is desirable the whole assembly could be pre-wired and offered up to the bulkhead as a complete assembly.
All Roxtec transit systems are based on unique MultiDiameter Technology. This enables any diameter of cable or pipe, within the module's capacity, to be easily secured by the removal of the core and the right number of layers within the module. Each module ensures an adequate separation between services, but still enable a large number of cable or pipes to pass through a compact enclosure.
The format of modules within the frame can be varied to suit client needs. Unused modules can be left in the frame for future cable expansion. A compression module within the frame ensures perfect sealing and allows frames to be decompressed when the services passing through the frame are modified.
The GHM frame has a 60 minute fire rating and has been tested and certified for use in A-60 class bulkheads. Frames have also been pressure tested to 3.33 bar water pressure and a gas pressure of 1.67 bar. While developed with conventional steel vessels in mind, the GHM is also suited to applications in aluminium and GRP craft.
Frames are available in a range of sizes from 233mm square to 986mm x 990mm. A complete technical support service is available from Roxtec UK. Visitors to the Ship Repair and Conversion Show at Olympia will be able to see the GHM frame on the Roxtec stand C3, Zone 4.
